what I am reading

I love to read. Right now my aim is to not only read books for pleasure, but also to enrich my life - intellectually, physically, emotionally and above all, spiritually.

These are a few I can recommend:

One in a Million: Journey to Your Promised Land
by Priscilla Shirer

Another incredible book by the talented Priscilla Shirer. With the Israelites journey from Egypt to The Promised Land as the backdrop, Priscilla explains how the principles of their story apply to us as Christians today. Each one of us too, goes through our own wilderness journey (whether it is infertility, career difficulties, sickness or death of a loved one) - God is drawing us close, teaching us to place Him first on our way to Promised Land living.

Amplified Bible
 Published by Zondervan

This year (2014) I am reading the Amplified Bible. Although it is a longer version of the Bible, it is one of my favourite translations. It is descriptive, including additional meaning and depth - facilitating a better understanding of The Word.

24/7: A One Year Chronological Bible
NLT

This Book (or any other translation) should have been the first book to make this list! Even though other books and resources are great for supplementing our knowledge and understanding of God's Word, the Bible should always be our primary reading material - our "Book of Instruction". This translation is a one year Bible arranged in the order that events happened. As the Intro rightly claims - we should be Christians 24/7, not just on special occasions.

The Purple Book: Biblical Foundations for Building Strong Disciples
by Rice Broocks & Steve Murrell

We are doing this book as part of our mentoring Bible study at church this year. It is written in a questionnaire format, so requires active partcipaction. This is a great guide to help you learn the fundamental basics that forms the foundation of our faith - whether you are new to Christianity or not. We should all strive towards an intimate knowledge of God's Word!

Come Away My Beloved
by Frances J Roberts

This book was a gift from a friend - deeply appreciated. A classic that is truly divinely inspired. Uniquely written as if it is God Himself addressing you through the pages of this book. It speaks so directly to me in whatever my current situation - a glimpse into our Father's heart for us. This book is special indeed.

(Tip: If you want to buy this book, make sure to get the contemporary language version.)

Jesus Is___.
by Judah Smith

Judah Smith invites us to complete our own version of that sentence. A uniquely personal view of who Jesus is. His qualities, His character, what He means to us today. A remarkable effort to bring Jesus to life in a very real and tangible way through the pages of this book.

Undaunted
by Christine Caine

An incredibly inspiring book about finding God's calling for your life - regardless of your position, circumstances or abilities. A challenge to be sensitive to His voice, to listen when He is calling. To live undaunted!

by Ann Voskamp

I wish I had read this book sooner! It is beautifully written, poetic and unique. I found it hard to read at first - every sentence is so loaded with descriptive meaning, words bringing images to life. This book will change your perspective. It will change your life.

by Jerry Savelle

Powerful testimony about the power of prayer. It explains how we can petition God in our prayers, based on His Word and perfect will for our lives.

by Joseph Prince

Unmerited favor is another description for God's (undeserved) grace!

Wow, what a profound book! This is a fantastic resource. I can definitely recommend it.

by Priscilla Shirer

What an absolutely amazing book. A must read for any woman, no matter in what phase of your life you are in. It is truly inspirational! I want to give this book to all the women that are a part of my life.

by Stephen Kendrick & Alex Kendrick

An amazing resource for anyone that is married or in a serious relationship. This book helps you to take the focus off yourself, placing it on your partner and his or her needs.
